‘N.I’ is a captivating journey into the boundless realm of human imagination and AI perception. Through the prism of the artist’s live painting process and the one-of-a-kind final result, the work delves into the ethereal relationship between the physical and digital domains.

The process commences with the artist’s calligraphic paintings fed into the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and transcended using neural network style transfer. The plethora of visual patterns inherent in the algorithmic outputs is interpreted through his senses, using charcoal ink and white chalk on a stretched canvas. The artist freely expresses the images influenced by machine vision into a primitive expression of humanity.

While painting, the artist transcends into a state of profound concentration, known as the flow state. At this moment, the sense of time is lost, and the painting seems to create itself. The improvisational process culminates in a 6-hour session, resulting in a final product that accentuates the limitless possibilities of the human mind and body, Natural Intelligence (N.I).

‘N.I’ is a call to reflection and introspection, delving into the depths of our existence. As our technological leap accelerates, society will depend more and more on non-human algorithms. The artist creates a moment to ponder the boundaries of a natural and artificial state of mind, metaphorically expressed through the aesthetic formula of a self-mandala.
