VR Premiere – ‘alles’ | Burning Man 2020

I would like to announce a VR premiere of an Audio-Visual performance ‘alles’ taking place in Burning Man 2020. Due to current situation of the world, this year’s Burning Man emerges in virtual reality. During the period of 30.Aug – 6.Sep.2020, Virtual Black Rock City appears across the cyberspace, allowing people to access freely using their digital devices. Our performance will be streamed from Berlin (Germany) into a stage placed in the playa of MysticVerse.

‘alles’ is an Audio-Visual performance composed of Japanese visual artist Acci Baba and Iranian percussionist Mohammad Reza Mortazavi. Baba’s live visual art projection will perform together with Mortazavi’s live drum performance, simulating phenomena-like moments emerging from optical-sonic experiences. Along with live performance, the work can be streamed into specific virtual reality environment, allowing to flexibly adjust into social situations. Through the hybrid expression form, the work explores an unified moment of our consciousness, where auditory-visual senses collide into an imaginary universe.

About Burning Man : An annual experiment in temporary community dedicated to radical self-expression and radical self-reliance. During a week of gathering at a temporary city; Black Rock City emerging in a desert in Nevada, people can enjoy art, connect, and wander around the playa. This year’s theme is announced as ‘Multiverse’.

About MysticVerse : MysticVerse is one of the officially recognized universes of the Burning Man Multiverse. It is a fully immersive, interactive 3D experience, that allows viewers to access through VR headsets, Web Browsers, or Smart Phones.
